What does it mean to be healthy ?

Now, what does it really mean to be healthy? I mean we all want to be healthy right who wouldn’t? In my personal opinion and I’m sure most of you all know what it takes to be healthy overall but I just want to emphasize on this because at often times we all forget what it means to be healthy and we let our temptations get the better of us, albeit we try to keep a good relationship with our health. To share with you what it really takes for a healthy living here are some tips or rather just in general what it takes to be healthy that you could perhaps apply to your everyday life.

When we are talking of health, it is not just about a healthy body but also about sound mental health. Good health can be described as the condition where both our body as well as our mind are functioning properly. The main causes behind poor health conditions are diseases, improper diet, injury, mental stress, lack of hygiene, unhealthy lifestyle, etc. Over the past few years, our lifestyle has changed and we often tend to ignore the importance of healthy living in one way or the other.

The importance of physical activity:

There are so many reasons why regular activity boosts your health. Being active physically and during the process of when one is under physical exertion introduces lively chemicals called “Endorphins” at which the brain releases throughout the body when we exert ourselves to physical activity, these endorphins have a positive effect on our body, plus you always feel good after a hard workout!

The importance of Mental health:

“Mental health” refers to how people think, feel and act as they face life’s situations. Our mental health affects how we handle stress, relate to one another and make decisions. 

The importance of Spirituality:

Spiritual health is an important component of our well-being and an integral aspect of the holistic health philosophy. It gives us meaning, something higher to believe in, and most importantly, to be well with our souls is of utmost importance.

Don’t forget to eat the right foods (Dieting or simply eating healthy/Good nutrition)

Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health.


Physical, mental and spiritual health, all the three are deeply intertwined and have a profound effect on one another. To be vital and healthy you need to have a spiritual life. We need to have values and beliefs which we live by and strive to achieve. These values must be integrated into our work lives, home lives, and social lives. Its how we treat ourselves and others when no one is looking and no one knows about which tells about an individual’s spiritual life. Health and wellbeing are resources that enable individuals to thrive and reach their full potential.

Importance of Being Healthy

Good health is very important because a person of good health can put through a large amount of work in a short time.

A person of perfect health does not shirk his duties. He can work properly and leaves nothing undone. As a student, he shines in his examinations. As a public worker, he renders valuable service and is duly rewarded.

The cultivator generally enjoys excellent health. He works in the field year in and year out and produces plentiful crops.

A sound mind in a sound body is a very popular and wise saying. A person in the pink of health enjoys all the good things in life. He finds vigor and strength to do his work. He relishes the food he takes. He feels life in every limb.
He keeps a cheerful temper and goes through life’s journey with joy.

The vitality and energy of a healthy person always make him feel intensely that he is living. Air, sky, work, food, clothes, games, social work, entertainment – everything gives him delight. He regards life as a solid, pleasant, unique gift of God.

Therefore, good health is a priceless blessing in life. The famous saying ‘Health is Wealth‘ highlights the importance of good health in our life.

A healthy person can reasonably be proud of his possession. The healthy person, even if he is a man of moderate means, can find pleasure in ordinary activities like walking and sports. When health is impaired men have to spend a lot of money in order to recover it. For a ‘change’ they go to hilly or sea-side resorts. They take costly tonics and capsules and injections. In these days the fee of a specialist doctor is also alarming. Loss of health can produce endless misery and make a young man feel like an over-aged one, ‘Sans teeth, sans taste, sans everything’.

So keep healthy everyone, look after yourself and maintain that overall health.
